With all that's modern these days, sometimes it's nice to reflect back on the simpler things in life. A firefly glowing, a stream trickling between rocks, or a cold glass of lemonade. Although some may think otherwise, weddings are really about the couple and the vow they make to eachother. That doesn't always mean extravagance and over-abundance.
Being in a 'simpler' type of mood, I thought I'd reach back to days when things were less complicated. The times when people relied on what they could create, harvest, or already had. Days when people lived on farms, raised livestock, and appreciated the simpler things. Here is some rustic farm inspiration hoping to inspire you. Enjoy!
(Clockwise from top left.)1. Do you and your fiance have a favorite food? Grandma's strawberry jam? Or Aunt Lucy's award winning pickles? Get the family involved in helping make the dish, can them in cute little jars, and slap a matching label on the front of your initials or a quote. Don't forget to tie with a color coordinated ribbon! What a great, personlized favor.
2. Got a little cowboy/girl in you? Get festive with matching boots under your gown. Make sure you lift the dress for pictures!
3. Great DIY project for the groom - build a wedding sign to direct your guests to your reception. You can even go crazy and have multiple ones - reception, ceremony, dancing, restrooms, etc.
4. From the save-the-dates to the thank-you's, make sure to incorporate your theme in everything. This letterpressed card is adorable with "Howdy Partner". Great for Texas wedding.
5. These cute little farm animal letterpressed coasters are adorable. Great for any occasion.
6. Be creative with your centerpiece by gathering natural objects and tieing with ribbon. This straw bunch says "Hoe-down" for sure. Great DIY project in advance.
7. These floral bouquets are tied with burlap and lace for that natural and rustic feel. And even the bridesmaids wore boots!
(Clockwise from top left.)1. Limos are becoming a thing of the past. Sticking with the farm theme, borrow a vintage or old beat up truck (make sure it's cleaned pre-wedding!), and head to the chapel! Here, the bride sat in the middle of her maids to make sure she wasn't seen too early by guests.
2. Herbs don't just make a pretty favor, they're able to be used long after the last call is over. Mix them up so your guests can pick and choose their favorite.
3. Wagons are definite reminders of a farm. Fill an old one with a gingham table cloth and post-ceremony drinks and fruits for your guests to munch on.
4. Here homemade jams are packed in cute little jars for guests to take home. They're covered with scrap fabric, and wrapped with twine. Tie a name tag on them and you've got seating cards too.
5. Flowers don't have to be one of the most expensive parts of the wedding. Gather some wild flowers, and place in borrowed vases of varying sizes.
6. The rustic theme can be carried to the dessert as well. Here cupcakes are iced with a pale tan color with simple decoration.
7. Mason jars are a great icon of a different time. Pick some up at local thrift stores, fill with votives, and hang with wire. Perfect for an evening event.
