Right now there is a huge trend with letters and numbers (at least in my world anyway...). Monograms are back with large letters to hang on your walls, lettered and numbered jewelry for your body, and pretty much on everything you could think of. Besides using them in your daily life, why not create an entire wedding theme around letters and numbers. It's something everyone can relate to, and is readily available on almost any item you could possibly think of. So many ideas! From save the dates, to the cake, to favors.

1. What bridesmaid wouldn't love a monogram necklace as a gift for being the great friend she is? Being lowercase makes them that much more cute.
2. Buy 3D letters (I just bought a few from Michael's Crafts last week at $1.99 a pop) and arrange them to create a word to direct your guests where things are. Your guests won't have a problem figuring out where the cake is from across the room. Paint them in your color scheme for a cohesive look.
3. Wrap felt letters in your color theme around pillar candles and glue to bring your colors into the table scape with function (from http://www.countryliving.com/). Great DIY project to do WAY in advance.
4. Include your initials (as bride and groom) on the cake, cupcakes, or like these cookie favors from BlissTree.com as a subtle decoration.
5. 3D numbers (in the same category as alphabet letters as far as I'm concerned...) used on a table can easily direct even the most hard of seeing guests to the right seat.
6. Cuff links for the groomsmen in their initial are a cute gift and also tie the alphabet theme into their wordrobe without over doing it (an alphabet studded tie might be a bit much...)
7. Anthropologie had these adorable woodblock print napkins. Great for cocktail hour...

1. Find an old log or two to chop into smaller sections and carve our your initals and date of your wedding for some rustic centerpieces (here, a hole was drilled out for some added flowers). Another idea? Scribe a short but meaningful word, quote, or message to your guests. (Make sure to use a Dremmel or other rotary tool as it'll definitely save you time!)
2. Definitely cannot forget the bride! This garter (from Julianne Smith's garters... lovely local girl) is embroidered with the wedding date. Could also be embroidered with a personal saying or monogram.
3. Mmm... who doesn't love chocolate? Believe it or not, you can actually get edible letters...
4. This moss monogram letter is lovely - for either an outdoor reception, or a rustic one. And it's completely DIY. Print your letter from a printer (head to Kinkos if you need to make it larger) lay on a piece of foam from the craft store, cut your letter, then apply real moss from your local HomeDepot.
5. These ties from JPress are really sophsitcated for having numbers on your neck. With only having one number repeat it almost creates a pattern then an overstatement.
6. Letters and numbers everywhere! Another cute setup to tie the theme in.
